I had a speaking engagement in Western Oklahoma this week, so …
We decided to visit …
Quartz Mountain State Park
near Lone Wolf, Oklahoma.
It was just a quick stop, but we had a great time! If you are ever in the area, this state park is definitely worth a visit!
They have a very impressive Lodge.
That picture definitely doesn’t do it justice, so be sure to check out their website to see how nice it is:

Here are some fun family pictures we took:
Of course we had to hit a couple of the trails!
Can you spot my son and me in that last picture?
My personal favorite of the two was the Sunrise Trail.
It led to some beautiful views both of the mountains, as well as the lake below. I do have to say that it was a pretty challenging hike though! It was only .45 miles, but a lot of up and down, and a lot of scrambling over large boulders. Only my son and I were able to do it. It’s not a trail for little ones.
The Tom Creider Cave Trail however was perfect for them. It was only .1 mile long, and it wasn’t too challenging. It wasn’t the most amazing cave we’ve ever seen by any means, but it was still neat for the kids to see.
As we were heading out of the park to head home, we got a nice surprise …
Six deer were grazing at a camp site!
It was a nice end to a nice day!
National Parks Articles Returning Soon! (Hopefully)
